So if you’re looking for professional development opportunities, a way to infuse career activities into your lesson plan, or how to help clients with different abilities, there is something here for you.
This section of the Vermont Career Gateway has been organized following the National Career Development Guidelines (NCDG). The NCDG are a framework for thinking about the knowledge and skills young people and adults need to manage their careers effectively, from making decisions about school to taking that first job and beyond.
The NCDG framework and supporting materials provide a way for individuals to gauge their skill level and acquire new skills. They also help educators and career development professionals develop comprehensive or competency-based, high quality programs.
Domains, goals and indicators organize the NCDG framework. The three domains, Personal Social Development (PS), Educational Achievement and Lifelong Learning (ED), and Career Management (CM) describe content. Under each domain are goals (eleven in total). The goals define broad areas of career development competency.
